Day 4 - At rest, finally!
kc
Mayport Naval Station
Ya know, 4 am is still dark, even 500 miles from "home." Once again, I'm waking up to itching and more itching. I down today's dose of prednisone and hope for quick relief. Nope, not gonna happen. At 5 am, I try walking Sunny, maybe that will take my mind off it. Nope, not gonna happen. At 6 am, I go back to bed, but inadvertenly wake Dick up in the process. He gets up and goes into his morning routine, while I doze for about an hour. Thinking about all the things we've gotta do today is just not conducive to further napping, so I go ahead and get up around 7, letting him know that perhaps it's not a good idea for me to take my chiggers over to Papa's house today. Plus, I really should go ahead and do the laundry here, as it is free, and then we also wouldn't have to worry about what to do with Sunny all day. And, it's not really fair to subject Papa to the possibility of me dropping a few friends at his house. Dick reluctantly agrees, and helps me get the laundry started while I work on breakfast.
I decided to make French toast on the George-Foreman-like grill, just to see how it would turn out. Not so bad, actually, and it's LOTS easier than butter and heavy frying pans...and cleanup was a breeze. Good enough to do it again, fer sure.
Eventually, Dick leaves for Papa's house; he's gonna check out a new route and see if we could take the trailer. Seems like it would be much shorter and lots less traffic, but we don't know about low overpasses and bridges. Better to find out withOUT the trailer in tow.
I stay behind, do the laundry, vacuum, was dishes and walk the dog. Today is the first day we've been without rain so far, and boy, is it hot. A little overcast, but windy and nice (I like it hot!!). I've tweaked the website again, but was still unable to actually get the blog to load, so I had to send off for help. I *was* able to get the other pictures posted, though, so take a peek. You'll see the nice sunset we had on Thursday and a couple of ships. Carnival Celebration left out yesterday evening, but we didn't get a shot of it. I've been watching dolphins play and the tide come in today; no telling what this evening will bring. Probably some more itching, but at least it's not like it was on the first couple of days. And, according to Google, I only have about 3-4 more miserable days before the spots start healing and retreating. I cannot wait. In the meantime, I guess I'd better get started on finishing Annabelle's birth announcement (tomorrow is her 2nd birthday, and I will be one full year late on its delivery) so that we can get it to her when we go visiting in a couple of weeks.
I've sent off a dispatch to Debbra, to see what kind of food she'll be expecting next week, but I've not yet heard back. I cannot believe she has anything better to do than watch for my email, but I suppose it's possible.
haha.
At some point, too, I'll need to go get a post card for Theresa; we've started that tradition up again, after a 15 year hiatus. She'll be getting a card from every town we stop in, regardless of how long we stay. Oh my, there goes a monster-big (RED) cargo ship. Never a dull moment here on the channel.
Till next time....
