OK, so I admit it...

OK, let me be the very first to admit it. MY HUSBAND WAS RIGHT.  You know I've been dealing with these stupid chiggers that found me on the very first day, right?  And you know I've been a week on prednisone and stuff, right?  And you know that I've showered hot (even hotter than usual!!) and soaped and oiled and did ALL THE RIGHT STUFF, and I still had big, itchy bites.  I even painted a few of them with (pink) nail polish, as advised.  NOTHING worked.  Well, I finally succombed to husbandly advice, and let him paint me all over with (not so pink, thank you very much, Mary Kay) globs of nail polish.  Where there were really big, open bites, it BURNED.  For a while.  Yeah, that was most of 'em.  The others were just plain cold, then itchier.  Well, eventually, they simmered down.  And ya know what????  Today wasn't so bad.  Of course, it was only 74 - 81 degrees, too, so, do ya think MAYbe it had something to do with the weather?  I dunno, but I do know, it was way more tolerable today than it has been in two weeks.  WHEW!  Maybe the end's in sight?

Today we visited with Dick's mom and cousin and caught up on all the family activities.  We also went shopping for tomorrow's party at the local Wal-Mart.  I cannot get over how plentiful everything always is in our country; we are truly the Land of Plenty (and plenty of waste, too).  Of course, we did take the scenic route, getting there.  I am sure glad we scope out escape routes without the trailer in tow.  We did see a u-turn by a class A that sorta surprised us.  We usually find a large parking lot when we make ours; this guy did it right in the middle of a 4-lane road.  Of course, he blocked the whole road and had to back up in the middle of it; makes ya think maybe there should be some additional licensing, and a requirement for common sense to be permitted to drive such a vehicle.  Makes ya wonder what all these geezers are thinking.  Or even if they ARE thinking.

After a late (1 pm) lunch, of course we were in no mood for dinner tonight, and with all the supplies for tomorrow taking up valuable 'fridge space, we decided tonight was a good night to open the brut of champagne that Paul & Mary had given us as a bon-voyage gift.  Of course, you cannot re-cork the bottle, so we sat by the water and watched the sun go down.  Our neighbors built a fire, then came and shared camp & life stories with us.  Turns out, Dick & the guy's mom went to school together!  And now, he lives only about 3 blocks from Pat & Charles (cousins).  Small world, huh!  They're leaving tomorrow, but I promised their daughter, Lauren, that I'd get her up when I got up.  Bet Daddy's not gonna like that!!!  That's the neat thing about other people's kids, tho — ya get to get 'em fired up, then you can send 'em home.  Promises to be an entertaining day!!  OK, so I'm an instigator.  Gotta do something besides watch the sun go up and down!

Guess I better go get ready!!!  Y'all have a great day!!!!
