So much to see and do!

The last few days have sure been exciting!  Well, they are when you compare them to some of our other days here...

A couple of our workamper couples have had their departure dates unexpectedly moved up, so they had to leave on shorter-than-planned notice.  Dick and I volunteered to take on some extra shifts to cover for them, so we worked a couple more days than usual last week.  No biggie; we didn't have much else to do.

As a reward of sorts, one of the remaining couples worked an extra shift so that I could attend a FREE Randy Travis television show-Christmas concert taping.  That was fun.  He sang one of his not-yet-released songs (twice) and a few Christmas carols, then his hits, 3 Wooden Crosses and Forever and Ever, Amen.  Most songs had to be sung twice, and in between, he told some really funny jokes.

Yesterday, they were supposed to deliver the bottom half of a yacht that is to be used for dinner cruises here on Lake Taneycomo (the top half has been sitting in our parking lot for a couple of weeks).  Well, first it was gonna be here at 7 pm, then midnight.  At midnight, rumor was 2 am.  Well, at 3 am, I dozed off.  Woke at 5, still not here.  And, no, still not here at 7 am, either.

Today, Sunny was scheduled to get groomed, so we had to get up and take her to the vet.  On the way, we stopped to take my picture next to the Oscar Mayer Weiner-mobile.  I had gone through that when I was a VERY small child and I'd wanted to do it again, but we worked the days it was open.  It had been up at the Titanic Museum all weekend, and American Idol was helping them hold a star-search for their next child-representative singer.  Glad I missed THEM, but was disappointed I didn't get a new whistle.  Dick got some good pics of me standing by the big buns, though, and I'll get them posted quick as I can.  Then, we took some new friends up to Lambert's Cafe, Home of the Throwed Rolls.

Their philosophy is simple - Come Hungry & Leave Full.  Boy, did we ever.  They have servers that come around with big ole bowls of "Add-on's" and they just pile spoonfuls on your plates.  Except the fried okra.  They just piled that on paper towels.  And rolls.....mmmmhmmmm, the rolls were YUMMY.  And, yes, THROWN at you.  If you didn't catch it, they just threw another.  We have pics of THAT, too.

And as they served our food, the waitress reminded us that it was all we could eat, just let her know what we needed or wanted next.  She posed for a pic with Denise and me and we promised to make her a star (of our travel log, anyway!!)

After that, we took Carl & Denise caching in the nearby conservation area.  Carl wasn't really hep on the idea of traipsing through the woods and going past the No Trespassing signs, but we talked him into trudging up the hill with us.  He turned out to be a pretty good back-seat navigator, too, and kept us laughing the whole way.  He was a good sport about the whole thing, though he didn't think much of the prizes we found (or hid).  Junk is junk, he says.  True, but we did walk off that lunch, didn't we!!

On the way home, we got to pick up Sunny, and boy, was SHE surprised!  She's not used to riding in the front, and could NOT understand why they were in HER seat, in the back of the truck.  Carl said she kept shooting him looks that were not her usual friendly "pet me" pleas.  I said she was just bewildered.  Carl said I could call it what I want, he knew she wanted him out.

After we got home, we walked down to the parking lot and got the skinny on the boat delivery.  Tonight, they say.  Then, Sunny, Dick & I all rode the Duck (amphib vehicle) back up to Carl's bus, but he wasn't there to see    He was in the office, I guess checking email and/or recapping his own adventures.

Well, tomorrow's another day, and I'm not sure what we have planned, but I'm sure it'll be something new, different, challenging or fun.  Unless it's laundry.  That's none of the above, but it is necessary.

Maybe I'll get some work done on our Halloween costumes; we have the basics down, but they do need some work.  Since we are representing the city gov't, we cannot hold a Halloween party, but we (Denise & I) have managed to get permission to hold a Pets-on-Parade instead.  We have no money for decorations or refreshments or prizes, but we're forging ahead anyway.  Wish us luck!

Y'all take care and have fun!
