We DANCED the weekend away!

I know it's been forever since I've written, but our network here is being upgraded.  Well, it's SUPPOSED to be upgraded - we've gotten 3 new, high-power antennas, but, as you might guess, it's not quite finished.  And, there seems to be an issue, as we have not been able to connect for a few days now.  So, I'll try to write fast and get it all in before we get knocked off again.

We DID go to Lebanon, MO., for the Missouri Square and Round Dance festival weekend, and we DID get to dance on old Historic Rt. 66.  There were about 500 people (45 squares) out there with us and the weather was simply fantastic.  It was warm, breezy and sunny, and people waved as they went by.  We met lots and lots of really nice folks, and boy, did we show them some new stuff.  They thought they were cut-ups, but we showed 'em all how it was done in NC!!  By the end of the first night, we had been adopted by a local couple, and we all really had a great time.  The callers were interesting, to say the least.  Sure did make me appreciate the level of calling you all still enjoy in NC.  Several dancers and callers both had danced with/to Tony O and Jerry Story, and a few others.  They'd even heard of ole Tim (Mariner)!!

In our free time (and there was LOTS more of that than there ever was at Raleigh), we found a Western apparel store and Dick bought me a beautiful black & fur (faux!!) sweater.  It sure did come in handy, since they kept the rooms at ice-cold!!  We TRIED to buy one for Carl to give to Denise, but, no, he kept thinking and decided he'd better not.  Well, now that she's seen it, she regrets his decision.  She told me, NEXT time, just buy it and tell him how much money he owes us!!  Now, THERE'S a woman that knows how to get what she wants!!

Anyway, this past Saturday, we held our Pets-on-Parade costume contest here at the park.  We had 11 entries, and Denise & Sunny won FIRST PRIZE for Best Look-Alikes!!  They were both dressed up as witches, which is about as far from their real personalities as you can get.  I think everyone had a good time, and Sherrell had purchased lots of goodies and prizes for everyone, so no one went away hungry or empty-handed.  I dunno if it'll be repeated next year or not, but it was fun for now.

LAST night, Carl dressed up as Bubba (teeth and all, or should I say, BAD teeth and all), Denise was faceless ghost, Dick was a pirate, and I was the witch.  We went up to Playtime Pizza for the costume contest, but they had closed, due to a water main break.  BUMMER.  Next we went to the next town, Hollister, just to see what was cookin.  Nuthin!!  Came back to Branson Landing (the walking-mall with the fire/water show) and just paraded there with all the kiddies.  There were HUNDREDS of 'em!!  I think Branson must have imported all the kids in the surrounding 6 counties!!  We ate a Famous Dave's (BBQ joint), and poor Carl.....crunched down on a bone or something, and we all heard CRRRRACK!  He pulled out a big hunk of tooth and gave a grin....ugh.  Front tooth!  GONE!  "Carl, don't, just DON'T" was motto for the rest of the night.

Today, he got it fixed (dunno where), but it cost $1800!!!!!

Oh, and we have a gazillion pictures to post, but not enough bandwidth at the moment to do it, so keep checking!!

Love y'all lots!!  Stay out of trouble!

OH —- and a big ole HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sarah (the BIG 3-0) and Steve & Constance's twins (the REAL birth-day!!!)
