And into each life, some rain must fall

Speaking of rain, I'm sure you all heard or read about the 15 tornadoes that ripped through Georgia last Sunday....well, did you know that 12 of them were within 50 miles of Perry?  Yep, you read that right.  And you just don't know how exciting it is to be in a camper (a NOT TIED DOWN) camper when the wind blows  We woke Sunday morning to the rumble of thunder off in the not-too distant distance, and I was able to scamper out of bed for a quick doggie-walk, before the rains came.  Or so I thought.  You all know me, and you know I no longer scamper.  Especially at 4:30 am.  AM.  Well, we did get out, and we did walk, but when those winds kicked up and it started sprinkling, Sunny & I high-tailed it back home.  Dick had put the awning away in anticipation, so there was really nothing to do but sit and wait.  We were well rewarded.  With rain.  Lots and lots of rain.  Thunder & lightning, too.  In fact, it came down so hard & fast, that it formed a small lake under the camper.  It wasn't till the next morning when we realized just how deep it was.  It wasn't the wind that blew up our rugs, either, it was the water and it floated them!  We got off lucky, though, with only some bad scratches on the hood of the truck, where a tree limb fell down on it.  Houses and businesses just north of us really got creamed, though.  It's said that Macon, only 40 miles away, has lost 40% of their total tree canopy.  And, here we are a week later, and some people still have no power.  Damage is running in the millions.  We lost almost all the peaches off the 2 trees we had here, tho; I can only imagine the damage to the orchards.  Red Cross came through for a bunch of people, regardless of their scandals in years past.

Normally, at this point, I'll move on to lighter news.  unfortunately, tonight I have none.  For one thing, I lost my stupid crown.  AGAIN.  This makes about the gazillionth time.  At least when it popped off, I heard it go, and I spit out my mouthful right away (including the crown).  All this over a SOFT chocolate chip cookie.  I have yet to tell the dentist; I'm sure she'll just tell me to find someone else to glue it on.  AGAIN.  I'm hoping, tho, that she'll have/take time to see me before or after Rebecca's wedding in June.  That way, I will already be there and won't have to make a separate trip.  We'll see.  That's the one thing.

The really BIG thing, tho, is Sunny.  She is not doing well at all and seems to have suffered a series of small strokes.  She sleeps most of the day and night, barely walks and her appetite is way off.  She doesn't even bat an eye at chicken.  Anyone that knows Sunny knows how unusual THAT is.  When she stands, she wobbles, and even the wind is blowing her over now.  She was definitely put here on earth just to bring love and joy to so many people throughout her life.  I have got to be the luckiest girl ever to have been allowed to share her life and love for so long.  I am sure that everyone that knows her will miss her greatly, but she'll be going to Doggie Heaven and she'll be keeping Boo & Trip company till I can get there.  And who knows, maybe they'll be able to help her in some small way and we won't have to do the thing I dread most.  If not, it will truly be a rainy week at the Callander house.  Heck, I'll be lucky if it's only a week.  We have a great big rally scheduled for week-end, and what sites they don't take are reserved for just general folks.  The park is booked for all but 2 sites, and we're kinda keeping them in reserve in case the club people don't fit in their assigned spots or more show up than was planned.  I can only hope I stay busy enough to not think about missing puppy.

I don't mean to be morbid and I really am grateful for all the times and experiences we shared.  She'll live in all our hearts forever, and I will thank you all now, in advance, for the love and prayers I know you'll be sending our way.
