Thank God for veterinarians and money!

WHEW!  Sunny and we have dodged the figurative bullet, if only for a few weeks or months.  We asked her new vet to check her out this morning and let us know if there was anything he could do before he did anything final and irreversible.  After a thorough exam that included lots of poking, prodding and listening, along with a couple of hundred dollars of bloodwork, he announced that though he doesn't know exactly what's wrong, he thinks it's worth treating.  She's now under meds to control her bloodpressure and antibiotics in event of inner-ear infection, and steroids to control inflammation, if any exists.  This, in addition to her normal thyroid med, whose dosage MIGHT be increased at the next exam.  Plus her usual protein-reduced food.  IF she'd only eat.  She seems to be walking a little better today, tho her head is still cocked to the side, and she stumbles a lot.  Anyway, we should see some improvement in a couple of weeks or 3, then she'll be re-evaluated for all the same stuff.

That'll be about the same time as Rebecca's wedding, so she'll be in there for boarding anyway.  Thank you all for your prayers and wishes; I know they helped.

We were just beginning to settle in for the evening, after spending the day at the vet's, when we got a knock-knock on our door.  It's not often we get guests, especially camper-type, here at this park.  At the state park, it was not at all uncommon, and usually at odd hours!  But, here, people have newer rigs and more money, so if they need anything, they usually just call a repairman and we are not involved.  Tonight was different.  Chester & Elsa, both 78 years old, and about as big as a minute, were at our door and all rattled.  They wanted us to come look at a tree beside their camper.  OK...we really didn't have a choice.  Well, surprise, surprise.  Sucker is cracked clean thru, about 5.5 feet up from the ground, and swaying in the wind like a bedsheet in a hurricane.  We hurried Chester & Elsa up to get them moved off the site, and my gosh, they were rattled.  I guess at 78 you begin to lose track of priorities.  They were worried about their hoses and stuff; WE were worried about getting the rig off the site!  Eventually,we got them into the driver's seat, and darned if they didn't start up and forget to put in their slide, and down their TV antennae.  We got 'em straight, then led them down to an empty site, only to find the Mrs. had parked their car in it!!  Right where we were gonna have him back up his coach!!  Rattled.  Once we got them ok, we went to work on the people in the sites on both sides.  Can you believe, one of 'em refused to move?  He said he couldn't get his car started (it was being towed by the rig, and was still hooked up).  MY GOSH, is that not the stupidest thing you've ever heard??  The coach must be worth about 125K, the car only 20K, tops, and he's not moving.  I guess he thought we'd buy him a new rig, but I got news for 'im.  We all (those of us that count) asked him to vacate the site, so our responsibility ends there!  At least, that's the way WE see it.

But, the tree-man is here now, 8:45 pm, and almost pitch-dark, with a bucket truck.  And I thought Sunny's bill was expensive.  Bet this'll be way more.  Good thing the park is full this weekend - it'll take all that to pay, I'm sure.  But at least all is well that ends well, and we've been blessed many times over today.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot!  Dr. Robinson is going to squeeze me in to plaster back that pesky crown.  What a day!  Think I'll call it a night!

Y'all take care, and God Bless!

You lost that crown AGAIN !!! I think it's time to change dentists - they are way TOO gentle. I hope Sunny is hanging in there. Soooooo sorry to hear she is going downhill. I know how much you all love her. We are going to have to be out of town the weekend of Rebecca's wedding. (Triathlon in Bath County, VA) So we will miss you this time around, unless you all plan to stay in the area for more than the weekend. Let us know. Glad the awful weather didn't hit you all personally. It's mighty hot here today (90's). All the best to you guys!!! Love, The Kutes
