Been a while, huh?

Well, it's been a while since I've written, to which I can only say, Sorry guys, been kinda busy.  Doin' what, you might ask??  Well, not really a whole lot, actually!!  haha.  You'd *think* we were retired or somethin'!

We have found a terrific group of people to dance with - they aren't close, but they are worth the drive.  They dance well, the caller is pretty darned good, they travel (tho our travels are MIGHTY limited due to work schedules and fuel $$$$$$$$$), and they are simply a lot of FUN.  They tolerate (and even join in) our cut-ups, and it's become a caller's challenge as we all switch squares without coordination.  Yes, Robert, it's way worse than we ever did at your club!!  But in a good, fun way.  A bunch of 'em came to visit us one day when we were off (what a GOOD excuse to clean the camper!!!) and, boy-oh-boy, did they bring goodies!!  Yum yum for a couple of days after they left!!  They talked us into going to a dance one Friday night, and you'll never guess who the caller was - good ole Tim Marriner.  For those of you that do not know, he is the gent that brought Dick & me together over lessons, oh, sooooooo many years ago, when we were all so much younger!  Boy, you should have seen the look on his face when we walked in the door!  He was surprised and then broke into that "little-boy, ear-to-ear grin with dimples" and came over to get his yellow rocks.  The club president has even convinced us to go up to Macon (crime-capital, I understand) for the GA State Convention.  Looks like we should modify our goals a bit - instead of sending our very own (geocaching) Travel Bug around to visit all 50 state, perhaps we should see about dancing at each state convention ourselves!  So far, we have 3 to our credit (unless you count all 4 NC ones) - Missouri, NC, and soon-to-be GA.  EVENTUALLY, Robert, we'll get to a National convention, then I guess we'll see what fun REALLY is.

Anyway, that's dancing, and that's what keeps us busy every Wed. night.   Oh, yeah, I almost forgot, we've had TWO dance clubs come a-campin' here at the park, so we've even managed some dancing without even leaving home. One of the clubs had a live band practicing, and they were so good.  Really did some toe-tappin' tunes with an accordian, banjo, guitar, singer and somethin' else I cannot remember.  Gettin' old sucks!!  (but, it *does* beat the alternative!!)

Obviously, Sunny has been keeping us busy as well.  She went back to the vet on Tuesday for an interim checkup and he seemed *very* pleased with her progress.  She still cants her little head to the side as she stands or walks, but she does walk better and she can pretty much stand up on her own now.  She has adopted the wide-legged stance of dogs that typically have balance issues, he said, but she is coping well.  She has become the "rug" up here at the office, every now & then, she'll open an eye and arch an eyebrow if someone bends down to pet her.  But, she pretty much has run of the office, thanks to some very understanding & sympathetic management.  Of course, her "run" is limited to walking over to her blankey, and sometimes to one of the doors, but "run" it is.

Then, of course, there's the weekly run to the grocery store.  Perry, the closest town, is 9 miles away, so we are making joint runs with our neighbors, Jack & Di. And, since Di is Wal-mart QUEEN, we generally spend some time there, as well.  Jack's retired AirForce, so it's nice to have another couple we can go places and have things in common with.  They drive a Freightliner, so their fuel mileage and consumption is even worse than OURS!

I've done a bit of sewing, in the off-hours, too.  I've sold a set of placemats and one of the baggie-booties I make.  I've just finished working on part of Rebecca's wedding gift, so I cannot talk about it, but they did turn out really pretty.  And, much to Dick's dismay, I've been shopping continuously, so my supply of patterns is pretty varied and extensive.  I *was* planning to sew another set of placemats or a runner/napkin ensemble to donate to a silent auction the square dance club is holding for charity, but that actually segues nicely into the NEXT paragraph:

We will be heading north here, very shortly, courtesy of Connie & Bob and Staples & Tim.  Well, yeah, and Rebecca, too, I suppose!!  You all know Rebecca is getting married on June 21 and she was kind enough to invite us to her wedding.  Well, actually, truth be told, I told her we were coming, so she might as well just send us an invite and make it official.  (she did)  Soooooo, being as I have a tooth issue (and when do I NOT have a tooth issue???????) and have to go to the dentist, we decided to come up on TUESDAY, maybe even in time to dance with Salem Squares - MAYBE - and do a bit of shopping, eyeglass place, dentist, visiting, and THEN go to the wedding.  THIS way, I'll even be able to smile and not be all half-numbed!!!  We cannot wait to see everybody again!!

Soooooo, between all that busy-stuff, and WORKING, yeah, who'da thunk it - we're STILL WORKING, we really don't have much free time.  What we *do* get is usually spent eating, sleeping, walking the dog or floating in the pool.  It's been pretty daggum hot here, but we are NOT complaining.  We are NOT shoveling the mud out of the office, as they were in Missouri, we are NOT flooded, nor are we cold or blasted by sand storms.  All in all, this is not a bad gig!!  And the park is very pretty.  Dry, at the moment, but pretty.

Well, that's all for now, 'cuz my flowers are needin' water and my dog's needin' walked.  Oh, and there goes the phone!  Y'all take care and keep cool & dry.

Love ya!
