Off we go!!
Many thanks to Jack & Di for babysitting last night so we could go dancing and not have to worry about poor Sunny cooking in the truck! (And, welcome to our Marvelous Adventures!!!) Dunno what got into our caller, Bud, last night, but he got a notion to teach us ole dogs a move called Daisy Chain. None of us had ever heard of it before, much less danced it, and, boy, did it show! I cannot tell you how many times he had to walk our 2 squares thru it, but it was a-plenty! EVENTUALLY, some of us got it, and we were able to get thru it once or twice. THEN, he got REALLY brave, and threw it into a singing call!!! Wht a blast!!!! It's always fun when we are challenged like that - hope he enjoys watching us as much as we enjoy trying to do it1
You'll notice today's category....and I bet you're wondering what we're up to.....oh, my, we're passing thru CORDELE, Watermelon Capital of the World, and there's a whole field of 'em!!! If we could only stop and get one, just to get another story! (see entry called "Who goes to the watermelon capital of the world and comes back without one?")
Well, yesterdy, Dick called Papa & asked "whatcha doin?" I'm pretty sure it was meant solely as a conversation starter (don't even try to tell me you don't do the same!!) but the reply was, "Picking up sticks in the back yard." Now, remember, Papa is 88 years young and uses a walker about all the time....so, picking up sticks is probably not the best or wisest activity to undertake........Wel, seeing as Mickey needed us to switch weekends with her (due to unexpected road trip of her own), that left us free for 8 days or so....sooooo, how's about taking a ride down to see Papa and pick up some sticks for him? Dick must hae known that wouldn't be my favoite way to spend 8 days off, so he sweetened the pot with, "maybe even go to the beach and see Karyne." That would be a former co-worker with whom we've shared many laughs and good times. Well, he KNEW I wouldn't turn THAT down, so, here we are! Took me about an hour to pack up this morning, and about 45 minutes to get the puppy ensconced at the vet/kennel and a few minutes to say goodbye to Jack & Di, and off we go! And, as promised, I was on the Internet before we hit Cordele!! Ain't technology a grand thing!!!??
We are packed, too. He wouldn't let me bring my sewing machine, tho, and it's killin' me. Last night, Theresa brought me a sample casserole cover, and I cannot WAIT to begin using all that fabric I had purchased last month in NC. Kathy had been kind enough to provide me a sketch of what she' done, and even attempted to teach me how to put on bindings and do straps, but, as you may recall, when I attempted the project on my own, somehow I got "distracted" by the leak in the roof, and I've not been back to it since!! Now, with one in hand, it'll be a lot easier to figure out, and it should move quickly, ONCE I GET TO IT!!
Oh, and speaking of getting to it, I finally got around to getting ourselves a new title. We are now OFFICIAL Workamper Ambassadors. Well, we will be as soon as I fill out the profile info....and that's my NEXT immediate project. See, if you talk to people, and they sign up to be Workampers using your number as a reference, you extend your own subscription. And you know how Dick feels about FREE. Free is GOOD. So, with all the people we've been talking to, I figure we should get something out of it for a change. Congrats to us, more work. Yeah, it's not ALL fun & games, there will be some unsolicited public contact.....that's why I'm planning to use JOSE's email as the point of contact. I might be cheap (HA) and I might be easy, but I'm NOT stupid!! Hush, you all that have seen me do some pretty dumb things!!! Keep our secrets, 'cuz you know I was never alone when those dumb things were done and I can talk, too!!
Boy, lemme tell ya, the Interstate scenery sure isn't changing any. This stretch actually looks just like the one between Richmond & Williamsburg, VA. I was kinda hoping that without the camper along, we might get off the Interstate & take some back roads. But, quicker is better and that means 70 mph. Can't do that on back roads. Well, I guess ya can; some people do, but not us. Gray skies have given way to sunny & a few puffy clouds, tho, so it's about time to break out my shades. With them, tho, it's really hard to see the screen, so I'm gonna scoot for now. Be looking for some more posts in the next few days, as I'm sure I'll have lots of stories. We've brought the camera & GPS, so no tellin' what we'll get into!!
Y'all take care and have a great day!!
