Has it been a month already?

WHEW!  What a week!!  I understand it's been very hot in Georgia, with not a drop of rain since the day we left, but it was HOT HOT HOT at Papa's house!!  Yesterday, there were a couple of thunderbooms, and a few drops fell, but it was just enough to turn the place into Sauna-City.  But, the good news is that the pump is fixed.  Nevermind the work that went into it (taking down a section of privacy fence, digging up a tree, roots & all, digging a 100' ditch, finding all the OTHER pipes & electrical cords, etc., etc., etc.), just know that the pump is fixed, and Papa can now water his winter garden.  Which he needs about as much as I might need a hole in the head.  Of course, it does keep him busy and out of trouble, and it does give him something to talk about (read:  gloat about!!).  All his grass is cut, his tractor's been sorta serviced, his front flower bed has been weeded, sticks are all up & out on the curb, he ate better for a few days, and hopefully, we reassured him about converting his TVs for the upcoming change (not like he won't forget in the next 8 months, huh).  All in all, we got quite a lot accomplished in the month we spent.  Oh, it was just a week?  HA - seemed like a month.  A month of Sundays.

Apparently, I am spoiled a bit.  Sharing a SMALL bathroom among 3 people, one of whom is OLD, is just not all it's cracked up to be, lemme tell ya.  Seems like every time either of us needed in the WC, it was already occupied.  I'm bettin' Papa felt the same way!!!!  And, boy, that road is loud.  You'da THOUGHT the traffic would die down at 11:45pm, especially on WEEKDAYS, but, nope.  Not happenin'!!  Was certainly not restful sleeping, and we were NOT wakened to the pleasant chirping of birds, fer sure.  We will be glad to get back to our own bed and our morning squirrel-scampering down the roof.  And Diana has filled the hummer-feeder, and she says they've been hitting it, so we're looking forward to seeing them (Di, Jack AND the hummers!!)

We are now at the GA Welcome Center, so it's time to fill bellies and empty bladders.  Y'all take care!!

Ya think it has been hot there?!?!? Whew, it has been hot, hot, hot here too. And we have had some mighty bad wind, lightening and rain storms here. One of the worst was on the night of the Salem Squares ice cream social. Trees were knocked down all over Ardmore, Buena Vista, etc and wind damaged some of the Tri-city airport. Our power was out for about 14 hours. Thank goodness I had churned (electric driven churn) my ice cream earlier in the day. As it turned out, there was no power outage at the recreation center, so everyone arrived with ice cream and other goodies and we had the party with no problem. However, we came back home to a dark house and worried about things in the frig and freezer. Next morning we still had no power ... so I asked a few neighbors if they wanted to chip in and get us some dry ice to put in our frig/freezers until we could get power again. They agreed and off I went to get 10 pounds of the stuff for each of us. As I was putting it into my frig and freezer - the power came back on. So, now we know the answer to powering back up after a storm - BUY DRY ICE!!!! We've had a few other bad storms since then - but so far, no trees have fallen in our yard. I wonder how your old "home place" yard is holding up under these storms? We love hearing of your adventures, so keep the words flowing. It might have been tough on you all, but I'm sure "Papa" is glad for all you did to help him out.
