Not only are the days getting shorter, but they are NUMBERED, as well!

Each day, the sun set just a few minutes earlier....and earlier.  And it's getting COLD, too!!  The other residents are giving me a hard time because a few nights, as I ride around showing late-comers to their sites, or walking Sunny, I've been wearing a sweater or jacket.  They keep asking me what I'm gonna do when it gets really cold...they just don't get it — where we're going, it just doesn't get really cold!!  It's just not something I've got to worry about!!!  Each day brings us a little closer to our departure date, too....we are both looking forward to dancing at the GA state convention, then heading down to Venice.  One of our recent guests is a board member & owner down at Bluewater Key RV Resort, at milemarker 11, and we talked to him about Workamping there...Perhaps with a little luck....of course, they do have hurricanes down there in the summer....

I know I've not posted in a while — there's a reason!  Actually, there are several..as you may recall, the other couple up & left the park, after we asked for weekends off.  Guess they get the last laugh, 'cuz now we don't get ANY weekends off, nor do we get any days off, unless the owner comes up from FL to work in our stead.  Even when she did, last week, we took off one day & went shopping (FOR THE PARK) and the next morning, instead of working in the office, we installed a flagstone pathway.  Then NEXT morning, she was still working for us, so we organized a park-wide yard sale, and boy, oh boy, did we get rid of a lot of office/store stuff!!  Oh yeah, and I sold a BUNCH of sewing projects!!!  In fact, I had to come in and make some more before the day was out!!  And THAT's what's been keeping me so busy.  With the help of Theresa and Cathy, from square dancing, I've been making casserole cozies....They are the niftiest thing to carry casseroles to pot-lucks.  They're quilted & insulated with special ($5.99/yd!!!!) fabric and have handles & drawcords with snuggies to keep the cords tight.  I have to admit, they look nice and they are selling well.  Maybe a bit too well — I cannot make them fast enough!!  Of course, the old standby baggie booties ("socks" to stuff Wal-Mart bags into) are selling well, too...plus, I've been commissioned to embroider an umbrella cockatoo on a denim jacket for one of the campers here now....so, you see, I've been at my machine daily for a couple of weeks now, while it's slow in the office.  Cathy's been teaching me some basic quilting skills and gave me LOTS of terrific tips (math, being one of 'em, and that has NOT been fun, but I did get some help in the form of a plastic template, from Dave's dad, across the pond, no less).

Tho, some days, it just isn't slow at all!!!  All these storms have people fleeing the coast(s) and we are located just perfectly that we get almost NO rain.  It's actually kinda crispy here, and sometimes, I even have to water the plants and birdbaths twice a day!  Nights are cool, tho, with temps dipping down into the 60's!!  But, last week, we had a couple of days that saw 12-17 rigs each day, with some of them staying about 4-5 nights.  The park was pretty full those days, and we were kept a-hoppin.  Now, with Ike on the way, we are fielding lots of phone calls, requesting we hold a spot, but they don't know when they're coming, and they can't tell us how long they'll stay...kinda difficult to schedule, but hey, we can do it.  At least, they think we can!!

Because we're working every day, we've not been geocaching, but we did manage to introduce our new British friends to square dance.  They seemed to enjoy it a LOT, and Janet really picked it up quickly!  After a brief intro that involved drawing on my palm, and a quick demo of 2 steps, and a reminder to keep their hands up and keep moving, and they were ready to square up!  We had stacked the square (with Theresa & Vance and Cathy & Jim, our good friends and great dancers) and pulled them thru, and they even did better than several of the students that have been at it for weeks!!!  We were sooooooo proud of 'em!!!  I think they're gonna look up a local club when they get back home.  They were able to re-sell their RV for their asking price, no sweat.  I know they weren't too excited about ending their 9 month USA vacation, but I guess all good things must come to an end eventually.

Well, it's getting close to last call for dog walk, so I'd better wrap up.  Y'all take care, and keep safe!
