BEACH bound!
The title says it all! It's not even noon and it's already 83* outside, and we are nce again south (beach) bound. Georgia's not known for best roads, so, 'scuse any typos as I relate a little of what's been going on.
As you know, we were working 7 days a week, about 10 hours a day. It's not as bad as it sounds - it's not hard work. Well, Jose may have a different opinion, after all, he WAS doing all the hard work, raking, painting, cleaning, etc. All I ever did was answer phone, water plants, sweep & park rigs. Plus,I got to keep Sunny in the office with me, and eventually, I even got my sewing machine up there and was able to get quite a few projeccts completed. That was good, too, 'cuz it helped me clean upthe trailer and gave us a little spending money.
Of course, it just covered fabric already purchased, then a bit for our tummies of the truck's. Our British friendswere able to sell their RV in good time and they got what they wanted for it too, which made it especially nice. i've gotten an email from the since their return home, they say it's cold and rainy. I guess that's normal, for GB, but sure doesn't make me want to go there. However, I've not been able to reply due to mail delivery failures, so, Janet & Dave, if you're reading this, anything you want me to know?? hehe, I *thought* we left on good terms...
Anyway, even with our work schedule, Barbara, the park owner, was nice enough to come up and let us go to the GA State Square Dance Convention, up in Macon. Well, we *thought* she was gonna work that weekend, but turns out she had other plans. She got a new couple in on the Sunday before we left & I spent the next 4 days cramming her head full of things she had to know about running Twin Oaks. She's gonna need every bit of that info, too, as I had October chock-full of campers and I know several rallies are scheduled for spring. Soooo, come Thursday afternoon, I headed home to iron & pack and we all (Dick, Barb, Sunny & I) left on Fri morning. I understand Barb called a few times to check on things, but we were too busy!! We danced and danced and danced. In between, we & carried stuff. For a couple hours, we were greeters. Practicing for our Wal-mart jobs, I guess. Confirmed that I really am no good at small talk & chit-chat with stranger. Yep, I'm gonna hold out for greeter at the Hawaiin airport. THOSE people will be greeted and then move on!! No small talk needed there!!
The calling was actually very good - they had a Hot-Hash room that was pretty quick, and we were mostly able to keep up without trouble. Theresa & Vance, Ralph & Bess (all from the Ramblers) and Dick & I got in one square with another younger couple, and we were all fine. Tired, but fine. Kept right up &often finished up at home, just as the caller did, so I know we were right! All in all, we had a GREAT time, and we really enjoyed the time spent with Cathy & Jim. Only thing we bought was a new white shirt for Jose, too, so we didn't spend tons & tons of money, like SOME people, Theresa. Poor Vance is gonna have to get a FULLTIME job to keep up with her!!! BUT, she sure does look pretty in all her new duds!!!
So, of course we get back & go retrieve puppy. She had to have her ears checked again, and of course, we stocked up on food for a couple of months, then there was the actual boarding fee. $118 (with discounts, no less) later, we are back on the road home. And boy, did she stink! So'd her blankey!! Bath time for Bonzo and we're all good. Auntie Di had found some Pill-Pockets for her, and they are very helpful. If you have trouble giving pet meds, look into them. they are made by Greenies, and available at Petsmart. Bet they aren't cheap, but sure make it easier to get the meds down the pipe!! We're gonna miss Di & Jack, but so will Sunny. first time anyone's loved on her as much as I do, me thinks!!
While we were gone, tho, new Barb & Jim had the run of the place...and ya know what? It was still there when we got back. They'll do just fine, as long as they use common sense and good judgment.
We have spent the past week tying up loose ends, getting last minute shopping done, cleaning and making preparations to leave. Jack & Di took us out to Longhorn for a farewell dinner, and could you believe - we all got ribs & shrimp. YUM YUM. Barb footed the bill and Pat & Di threw a pizza party for everyone leaving plus welcoming new Barb & Jim. that was nice - all the full-timers & residents came. Cake was a funny story - I still wanna hear the final outcome of THAT. But, hey, that's Perry Wal-mart. Lower your expectations so you won't be disappointed. But the party really was nice.
Today we said our goodbye's, and off we went! The plan is to stop in Homosassa & check out another campground or two while we're there. We *may* want to take next summer off and not work, but with the economy as is it, just dunno if we'll be able to do so or not. Hopefully, my sewing will really take off & I can begin to turn a real profit from that. Else, I dunno what we'll do. I'm sure a whole lotta people are facing the same dilemma, tho, we are not the only ones trying to survive this mess. It's such a shame, tho...I know I, and a whooooole lotta other people, worked really hard, pouring our selves & sweat into making that bank a success. Then just one crooked & shady, not to mention GREEDY, creepo comes along and udoes it all. Easy as pie. Bet HE's laughing now. Jerk oughtta be JAILED. All of 'em what got us in this mess. UGH, don't EVEN let me get started, cuz I won't stop till I've said my piece, and that's probably not what brought you to this page!!
NEW SUBJECT.
The sun is shining and now it's 86*. We are about 20 miles from Sunny Florida and I probably should begin to wrap this up, as we are planning to stop for lunch at the welcome stop. We would like to thank everyone for all the good tiimes we had at Elko and dancing, and we will keep you all with us in our hearts as we travel. I know there were several lasting friendships made, and I fully expect to see some of you again. Somewhere down the road, yes, but still, I'm gonna hold ya to those promises. And I have your email!! Unless you block me, as did Janet & Dave!! haha!!
y'all keep safe, and for those of you that also travel, keep the wheels to the road!!

Hi Dick and Karen: So you did get off and running as planned this morning!! I did think about you and miss you already just knowing you aren't "just down the road from us." (Sniff, sniff). We are trying to rest from the estate sale Friday and Saturday. We hope you have a safe trip. We are having a surprise birthday party for Daddy next Sat. and then the following weekend we go to Fontana. So we'll be busy until time for the next Dixie Crier. Take care and remember to keep in touch. We love you. Theresa and Vance
