It's WARM, and what's that falling from the sky???
Our ride from Homosassa to Venice was, THANKFULLY, uneventful. You know us and our adventures, so you can imagine our relief when we didn't HAVE one! Sunny slept most of the way, but since we were traveling via Streets & Trips and its own little GPS chipper-thing, I couldn't. We took back roads to get back to I-75, then relied on my own not-always-reliable memory to get us to the new RV park. Luckily, the roads matched the software, the GPS kept track, and my memory didn't fail us. We arrived just before 12:30 (yup, short day!!), and we only had to wait a few minutes for the office to re-open. That was a good sign - the office was OFFICIALLY closed for lunch! That means I'll be getting one!!
Once they opened up and welcomed us, they asked when we'd like to start working! haha - we asked if they'd mind us setting up, and they said, suuuuuure, go right ahead, then come back in the morning if we wanted to work, or wait till next Tuesday, if not. What a choice!! Well, after some discussion, we did decide we'd both start working on Friday, then party with 'em on Saturday. Our next workday will be Tuesday. This is almost a vacation!! We even went to the beach already!! And it was NICE! The water was rough, and even chilly, but the sand was warm and clean. Even in the doggie area, where we have to stay (we cannot leave puppy alone that long). Sunny laid down on her little mat behind my chair, in the shade, and snoozed, no surprise there. Even when we walked away a bit, she just laid like the princess she is. Well behaved and quite regal. Sarah, I sure hope Porche grows into the same sort of personality for you!! Remember Ginger, Destructo-Dawg? You'd better hope THAT's not in the works!!!!
So, we've worked a day, partied a night, beached a day, and today I sewed. I've finally gotten another stack of casserole cozies stitched up (Diana's gonna sell the first stack for me at her camper rally, I HOPE), and I even had time to work on hemming Dick's new shorts. At least 3 pairs. Three pairs still wait for me. Hopefully, tomorrow, I'll get to do some embroidery. They are planning a craft fair for Dec 7, and I sure hope to turn some of my projects into cold cash, instead. Actually, it'll be diesel in the long run, but 'till then, it's just fabric & thread, taking up valuable floor space in the camper.
Oh, and back to the title of this entry....it is WARM here! And today, it actually drizzled a bit. A couple rolls of thunder, too, but nothing too serious. Turned into a sauna when it stopped, then the sun went down & it rained a bit more. More rain here today than we'd seen in 6 weeks in Georgia! Seemed like a good day to make a pecan pie, tho, so I did. Poor Dick - he's not feeling well, so he's been sleeping since 6 or so, and he didn't get any pie. If he's lucky, I'll save him some. But, it turned out well, so he'd better get up soon!!
This park is very pretty, with lots and lots of grass. Lots of room between us & the park models on both sides of us, too. When we were here last March, we got to select our site and we chose one in a "residential" area rather than the "transient" section. With a lower turnover we'd hoped it would be quiet, and so far, we are right. Of course, we are the only ones here so far, but so far, it's quiet! We expect to get some neighbors sometime in the next month or so. Apparently, most of the park models here are occupied by 6x6 tenants. That means their homes (park models) stay on site all year, but they only occupy them for a maximum of 6 months per year. Any 6, but only 6. Egrets, herons, ibis, woodpeckers & hawks, but not many 2-leggers. Just the way we like it! So, we have quiet, rain, warm, beach & sewer site. AND time off! What a hoot! Now, don't get me wrong, I do miss the State Park & Rangers Ed & Barbara, but.....they just can't compete with all the amenities here.
Well, if I expect to get up and be productive tomorrow, I'd better get along here and hit the hay soon. Know that we think of you all, and wish you all well. We are watching the news daily and have you all in our hearts and prayers. Keep your chins up and rest assured that God works in mysterious ways. He may close one door, but He will open another at the same time; you just have to be brave enough to go through it.
