What came out of the sewing machine this week?

Well, Alex (for those of you that don't know, he's our 8 yr old grandson) has been visiting the principal's office waaaaay too many times....so one of his teachers took an interest in WHY he's been visiting the principal so often.  Turns out (oh, and who's surprised by THIS??) Alex is BORED TO TEARS by his everyday teachers & lessons.  He gets finished with his assignments, then turns into this little elf (imp?  devil?) that finds it fun to instigate.  Guess who he's related to!!  So, anyway, this teacher had him do all kinds of tests & observed him a bit and decided he's not a troublemaker at all - he's a very gifted & intelligent young man that needs to be challenged more so than he currently is!  WHOOPWHOOP!  So, now, he's in a gifted program, and with a bit of luck, he & the principal won't be on such intimate terms anymore!!!  As a special thank you, I decided that this very blessed teacher needed a very special thank you from Kim & the whole family.  What do I do best?  Well, imho, I sew pretty well, so I decided a professional tote bag was just the ticket.

I even paid $11 and BOUGHT A PATTERN!  Yeah, right, me, of no-pattern, just snip & stitch fame, bought a tote bag pattern.  Oh, boy, did it look complicated, too.  And called for WAY more fabric than I had purchased.  So, by the wayside it went.  Snip, snip, cut, cut, sew, sew, serge a little, seam a little, and presto!  There's a tote bag, with way cool pockets, inside & out!!  Let me see if I can get some pictures posted up here!!

Well, you get the idea....It's a cool tote bag, fun on the inside, professional on the outside & I made it in just one day!  Then, there's Diana's domino tote bag, with turtles, and an embroidered pocket, that took a couple of days.  After that, the machine took a rest, and so did I!  Oh, except for another 9 luggage handle wraps, to finish up that wholesale order!  whoohooo!!  I believe that completes that order, and what an order it was!  I was thrilled to get it, and thrilled to complete it!!  I have 104 luggage handle wrappers going to a roofing convention in Reno, NV next week - with any luck, I'll get some repeat business from them!  Wouldn't THAT be a hoot!  Enjoy your week!

We wrap up our gig here in the Valley tomorrow, just placed what should be our last overnight guest in a site.  Tomorrow, we bundle up all our recent purchases, be they fabric, Mexican art, plants, or food (oh, they're mostly fabric, I cannot tell a lie!), hitch up the horses and we'll be ready to roll out early Monday morning, weather permitting.  ETA, Monday afternoon, in Victoria!  Watch out Lowes & Home Depot, we come ready to spend $$!!
